In July 2017 the Minister for Mines and Petroleum; Commerce and Industrial Relations, the Hon Bill Johnston MLA, formed a Ministerial Advisory Panel to advise on the development of a single harmonised and amalgamated Work Health and Safety (WHS) Act. The new WHS laws will cover all workplaces in Western Australia including mines, petroleum and general workplaces, with specific regulations for each industry sector based on national model WHS laws.
The Ministerial Advisory Panel has now reported its recommendations back to the Minister – that report will be released to the public shortly. The Western Australian Government is seeking your comment on these proposals to modernise Western Australia’s WHS laws.
This information session will provide an overview of the proposals for adopting the WHS Act in Western Australia, developed by the Ministerial Advisory Panel. It will also outline how to provide feedback on the proposals or on any other aspect of the model WHS Act.
Once the proposal document has been released a link will be emailed to registered attendees.
The public consultation period closes on 31 August 2018.
